She started her nursing career in 1965 in Gwelo (now Gweru) and spent the majority of her professional life at Gweru General Hospital, along with service at several other hospitals across Zimbabwe. Nursing was not just her profession but her calling, and she took great pride and joy in caring for others. She retired from nursing after many years of dedicated service.
In 2008, Theodora migrated to Canada, where she later became a proud Canadian citizen.
She is survived by her beloved children, Shingirirai Zijenah of Zimbabwe and Lily Nyajeka; her cherished grandchildren, Thabiso Tshabalala, Rethabile Tshabalala, Anesu Zijenah, Joshua Zijenah, Theodora Zijenah, Alecia Zijenah, Joel Zijenah, and Annah Zijenah; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Savannah Tshabalala, Ezekiel Tshabalala, and Aria Tshabalala. She is also survived by her two sisters, Annie-Grace Gutu and Josephine Chingono, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews.
Affectionately known to many as “Gogo” (meaning grandmother), Theodora opened her heart and home to countless children—family members and friends alike. She was generous, nurturing, and always willing to help those in need.
Born to a Methodist minister, Theodora remained steadfast in her faith in Jesus Christ throughout her life. She faithfully supported church ministry, including Faith City Church and other church organizations, living out her faith through service, generosity, and love.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her compassion, strength, faith, and devotion to family and community.
