

Born October 13, 1922 to the late Charles Rathburn and Kate Elizabeth Woodroffe, Mac was predeceased by his 11 siblings (Harvey, Don,Charlie, Jack, Bill, Lena, Audrey, Gladys, Margaret, Mary and Grace), his son-in-law Glenn and his daughter-in law, Mary. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris (nee Millett), their three children, John (Jill), Janet and Holly (Richard), their 9 grandchildren, Gina, Kristina, Robert (Kylie), Joseph (Erin), Ian (Kara), Julie (Mitchell), Lindsay, Stephanie (Alain), Michelle (John), and their 7 great-grandchildren, Lily and Abby (their father James), Jordie, Owen, Luke, Brandt and Ksena, sister-in-law Joyce and many nieces and nephews. Mac lead a full life and enjoyed the simple things. As a Professional Engineer, he worked for the Department of Highways of Nova Scotia for 37 years doing bridge design and subdivision planning.
He was a family man and enjoyed his time at home however, was also known to be a lover of country music and curling and in his younger years, could be found playing his guitar with good friends or curling at the Mayflower Curling Club where he played for many years. Mac was a proud, honest and frank man with a quick wit and was loved dearly by all for it. He will be dearly missed. His family would like to thank everyone for their love and support. Arrangements entrusted to Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, at 2666 Windsor Street in Halifax. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at Cruikshank’s on Tuesday, May 7 at 2pm.
