Tillman (Legge), Viola Belle, Age 90 of Halifax. It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother on May 25, 2014. Viola was born in Robinsons, Newfoundland, and was a daughter of the late Leona and Isaac Legge. Viola was from a loving religious family of ten children. She has always held great admiration and high regard for all her siblings and their families. Viola is survived by sons, Gary Paul (Heather), Lower Sackville; Kevin Rodney (Laura), Quispamsis; brothers, Garland and Austin, Newfoundland; sister, Neatha Masey, Halifax; grandchildren, Christopher Rodney Tillman, AB.; Shauna Yvonne Tillman, Halifax; Peder Andrew Tillman, Quispamsis, N.B.; Melanie Richelle Tillman, Lower Sackville, N.S. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Floyd Tillman (January 2001); son, Wayne David, (January 2010); brothers, Robert, Vernon, Wesley, Godden; sisters, Olive Hendrican and Mildred Hayden. After having worked as a proud waitress in her hometown, Viola moved to Halifax in 1952 where she raised her family of three sons with her beloved husband, Harold Floyd Tillman. Over the years she enjoyed bowling with the girls, family picnics with her children, as well as many family reunions. Since January 2010, she had been a resident of Northwood Manor in Halifax where she was dearly loved by new friends and the nursing staff who thought she was a very kind-hearted lady who was very stylish. Over the years she was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church. Her Bible was always kept within reach. Viola was an excellent cook; she had a flair for making homemade soups and main courses, and homemade breads. A big thank you to the nursing staff at Northwood Manor who always gave Viola the best hugs and smiles during her stay with them and for also providing great comfort to the family by doing so. Our appreciation goes beyond words to each of Mom’s caregivers. Visitation will be held in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, on Thursday, May 29, from 6 – 9 p.m., where a funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30, at 1 p.m. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers donations in Viola’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. To send messages of condolence to the family, please visit: www.cruikshankhalifaxfuneralhome.com
