With broken hearts, we are saddened to announce that our beloved husband, father and grandfather “Pappou” passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday September 4, 2017.

Bill was born in Anavriti, Greece. He was the son of the late George and Panayiota.

Bill immigrated to Canada through Pier 21 in 1958 with his sister Helen to join other family members.

Bill worked in the restaurant industry with his brothers and later established his own business – Metro Shoe Repair on Barrington Street for many years. He was well known for his craftsmanship and wonderful service.

Bill was a wonderful and kind person who always had a smile for everyone. Family was everything to Dad. He was a man of great faith who was the most devoted husband, father and grandfather. Bill enjoyed the simple things in life – spending time with family and grandchildren, going for walks, gardening, going for coffee. He also enjoyed trips to Greece, his homeland.

Losing Dad will leave a huge void in our lives and we will miss him dearly.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Helen, daughters Patricia, Jenny (Patrick), Maria (Greg), son George and beautiful grandchildren Nicholas and Alexis. He is also survived by sister Bessie (John), brother-in-law Demetre “Jimmy” Koutroulakis and many nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by brothers, John, Nick and Peter, and sisters, Dina and Helen.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to the staff of Arbourstone Enhanced Care – 3rd floor, for all their care and compassion shown to Bill and his family.

Visitation will be held Thursday September 7, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Friday September 8, 2017 in St George’s Greek Orthdox Church, 38 Purcell’s Cove Rd, Halifax, Fr Peter Maropoulos officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St George’s Greek Orthodox Church or to the Alzheimer’s Society.
