

Delores Ann Montgomery, age 88, wife of Rev. Grant M. Montgomery passed away peacefully at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont, Ohio on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. She was born to E. J. Burgess and Rose (Smith) Burgess on November 14, 1933 in Prosperity, West Virginia. She was one of 11 children. Ann was a dedicated homemaker, setting up several homestead’s as she worked side by side with her husband throughout his many moves due to work and ministry. She never had idle hands. She loved reading, baking, knitting and was an exceptional seamstress. Ann attended The Fashion Institute in New York City and studied design under the tutelage of JSM Patterns. During her many moves Ann worked at Boston University School of Fine Arts and Applied Arts, Theater Dept. She was even offered an extra part in the movie “The Out of Towners” with Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis. She decided to decline the role because of her heavy workload and family responsibilities as a mother of four. Ann was an amazing support to her husband as he achieved three degrees at Ohio Northern University, Boston School of Theology & Boston University School of Psychology. She worked throughout her life as an Executive Secretary and Office Administrator for many companies that included Johns Manville, Owens Corning, and Pontiac. Eventually Ann created her own company which was subsequently hired as a subcontractor by Pontiac Motors. Ann deeply and profoundly loved the people of the churches they served. She often described the years spent at First Church and then Ross church as among the most powerful and moving times of her life. She is preceded in death by her daughters Robin, Crystal, nephew Kevin and great granddaughter Angel. Surviving are her husband Rev. Grant M. Montgomery, son Rev. Mark Montgomery (Rebecca) and son Grant M. Montgomery Jr, (Rose). Grandsons Travis & Mark J. Montgomery, Bruce D. McGinnis and granddaughters Lindsey, Ashley, Angie & Caramie. She has been blessed with 15 great grandchildren. Visitation for Ann will be held on September 27, 2022 At Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home in Hamilton, Ohio from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with services to follow at 1:00 pm the Rev. Mark Montgomery (retired) will officiate. The burial will take place in Beckley, WV. Memorials can be donated to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lindsey, Ohio where her grandson Travis, is serving as Pastor.
