
Charles Edwin Gardner has flown away into the presence of Jesus on Thursday, December 15, 2011. He expired at Sheltering Arms Home in Palmer, Tennessee. Mr. Gardner, son of James Nelson and Nora Alice Bradley Gardner, was the youngest of their six children and the last one to expire. Mr. Gardner born on December 30, 1921 in Ethridge, Lawrence County, Tennessee and was married to the late Effie Elina Glass on October 6, 1947 in Florence, Alabama. She preceded in him death on February 3, 2007. Mr. Gardner served proudly in World War II in the South Pacific from 1942-1946 where he was wounded, receiving a Purple Heart. Mr. Gardner was employed for 33 years at Fisher Body Division, General Motors, Hamilton, Butler, Ohio. He worked in metal assembly for many years and then as a salvage man repairing and welding body parts for GM. He was a proud member of UAW Local 233, Hamilton, Butler, Ohio. He attended Plainview Community Church in Tracy City, Tennessee. He was a kind, gentle hardworking man who loved The Lord as his Saviour and his family. He is survived by daughters, Lois A. & Derrell G. Sergent of Hamilton, Butler, Ohio and Sharon C. & Ronald DeWayne Sears of Tracy City, Grundy County, Tennessee, on grandchild, Jennifer Lee Sergent Yater (Michael) of Hamilton, Butler, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Joyce D. Mead (Michael), and son Charles E. (Eddie) Gardner, Jr., two brothers, Claude Ally and James Wilson Gardner, sisters, Sarah Jane Rhoades, Queenie Laura Scheidt, Dollie Dent Norton. He will be mourned by his Church family, friends, nieces, nephews and many others who knew him. Mr. Gardner will be lovingly remembered for the smile he always shared. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife and infant son in The Last Supper Section of Rose Hill Burial Park, Princeton Pike, Hamilton, Butler, Ohio.
