

Donald Gillespie, age 89, of Hamilton, died at his residence on Sunday, December 4, 2011. He was born in Reily, Ohio, on February 21, 1922, the son of the late Howard and Birdie (Smith) Gillespie. He graduated with the Hamilton High School Class of 1940. Don served in the US Navy in the South Pacific including Okinawa during WWII. On October 17, 1944, in Covington, Kentucky, Don married Charlotte Wiles. Don was a realtor and formerly worked at Fisher Body and Bendix. He was a member of Redeemer Church. Don is survived by his wife, Charlotte Gillespie; daughter, Linda Cozad-Kelso of Fairfield; son, Kevin (Terri) Gillespie of Athens, Ohio; three grandchildren, Daniel Gillespie of Athens, Angie (Tim) Reid of Noblesville, Indiana, and Emily (Bob) Hutchings of Linden, Michigan; two step-grandchildren, Hannah Bierlein and Nina Bierlein both of Athens; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willard and Ray Gillespie; and sister, Marie Mc Creadie. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 11am at Redeemer Church, 3431 Hamilton-Middletown Road, Hamilton, OH, with Rev. Kim Katterheinrich officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Gathering of family and friends will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, from 6-8pm. The family expresses a thank you to Vitas Hospice, especially Pam, and to special friend, Gerri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
