Age 64 of Hamilton, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at Hospice of Hamilton. She was born in Hamilton on June 25, 1951 the daughter of Oscar and Mittie Marie (Owens) Mullins. Joan was a 1969 graduate of Taft High School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Colorado College, followed by a Master’s in literacy from the University of Dayton. Joan was head of the English Department at Jefferson High School in Dayton where she had taught for many years. Joan loved music and was passionate about singing and performing. She was an avid reader, passing her love of literature on to her children and students. She loved to read “alot”. Joan was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Nicole (Darran) Bishop and Jason (Heather) Caudill; her grandchildren, Morgan Bishop, Megan Bishop, Xander Caudill, and Shyla Caudill; a brother, Jerry (Betty) Mullins; a sister, Judy (Gerald) Spence; and many beloved family members and friends. Visitation will be held at Hamilton Church of God, 1760 Millville Ave., on Tuesday, August 18th from 5:00 PM till time of service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Alan Weaver officiating.
