
Eleanor “Ellie” Mae Marcum, age 86, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at Kettering Hospital in Dayton. She was born on May 23, 1939, in Butler County, Ohio, the daughter of the late John Smith and Ida (Milheiser) Smith. Eleanor was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jack Kenneth Marcum; her siblings, John Smith, Milton Smith, Mary Jones, and Dorothy Hoskins. Eleanor was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Jay) Tebbe of Hamilton, Jack K. (Barbara) Marcum of Hamilton, and Christine Ostendorf of Orange County, California; her grandchildren, Stephen Marsh, Hannah (Dalton) Lubbers, Lauren Marcum, Lindsey (Dane) Givner, and Leslie Marcum; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Reign Givner. Eleanor was an active member of Freedom Baptist Church, where her faith guided her life. She was deeply committed to serving her community and was a prominent volunteer at local nursing homes throughout her life. Known for her zest for life, Eleanor enjoyed quilting, embroidery, playing the spoons, music, dancing, and all forms of art. Her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Freedom Baptist Church, 1766 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45013, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jake Day.
