Freida May Hawkins

Freida May Hawkins, 101 years young, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully Friday January 23, 2026. Freida was born August 24, 1924, in Rising Sun, Indiana to the late Elmer and May (Humphrey) Vornheder. Also preceding her in death are two sons Dale and Dennis Hawkins, brothers Howard and Harry Vornheder, and sister Elizabeth Grimmeissen.

Visitation will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 4601 Fairfield Avenue, Fairfield, OH, Thursday, February 19, 2026, starting at 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mark Gregory pesiding. Freida will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Burial Park, Hamilton, February 20, 2026, at 11:00 am.

Freida was a graduate of Hamilton High School class of 1942 and attended Butler County Business College. She was a member of St. Marks Church for 46 years. She loved sudoku and crossword puzzles, crocheting, knitting, watching the Hallmark Channel, and was a big Cincinnati Bengal and Reds fan. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.

Freida leaves to cherish her memory, her children Don Hawkins, Lynette (David) Ashman, Pepper (Mike Long) Lay; grandchildren Angie, Don Jr., Carrie, Nathan, Dennis Jr., Nicholas, Noah, Aaron, Madison; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister JoAnn Anderson and daughter-in-law Cindy Hawkins, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and the craft ladies at church.

She will be missed by many.
