METCALF, Gary Lee age 58 of Fairfield passed away on September 9, 2013 at home. Gary was born on July 18, 1955 to Eugene and Opal (nee Harrison) Metcalf in Irvine, KY. He married Kathy Briggs on February 10, 1979 in Fairfield, Ohio; to this union were born Jamie Metcalf and Amy (Travis) Taylor. Gary is also survived by his much loved grandchildren, Gavin, Addy, and Gracie; dear stepmother, Ina Metcalf; adored brother of Faye (Bill) Roberts, Pat (Fairley) Bicknell, Linda Hunt, Kathy (Jerry) Henson, and Billy Metcalf; sister in law of Judy Briggs; brother in law of Dennis (Lynne) Briggs and Donald (Mary Jo) Briggs; son in law of Donnie and Teresa Briggs; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Edgar and Maggie Metcalf; brother, Donald; brothers in law, Charles Briggs, Joseph Briggs, and Mike Hunt; and niece Ashlee Hunt. Gary was a gun enthusiast and he owned the well known Gary's Gun Shop in Fairfield, Ohio for 26 years and working along side him was "Poppy" his father in law. Gary's Guns was a place where many meals were cooked, friendships were built, and memories were made. He was followed to work everyday by his buddy's Skeeter and Peanut. Gary had the best friends a man could ask for. He was also a member of the Fairfield Optimist, Ben Franklin Lodge as a 32nd degree mason; Scottish Rite, Lifetime member of the NRA. He was previously a member of the Butler County Sheriff's Dept. Gary loved hunting and fishing with his grandson Gavin. He contributed to his community and will be missed by all that knew him.
