SMITH, Geneva age 87 of Oxford, passed away at her residence on Monday, September 2. She was born in Perry County, KY on November 24, 1925 to Dallas and Mary Ellen (Powell) Merida. On July 6, 1944 in Pineville, KY she married Jake Smith, and they were married for 46 years until his passing in 1990. She is survived by her daughters; Darlene Meadors, Laura (William) Schirmer, Cora (Carl) Venable, and Doris (Ronnie) Hampton; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Delsie Baker and Drucilla Clark; a brother, William Merida; and a devoted friend, Charles Terry Mayes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Smith; a son, Chester Smith; her parents; and two brothers, Emmanuel Ray and Eugene Merida.
