

On August 25, 2011, at 8:05am, George went to be with the Lord. He was 89 years old and a resident of Hamilton. George was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, on February 27, 1922, the son of the late Dewey and Virgie (McCracken) Ballinger. George married his wife of almost 63 years, Pauline Clarise (Retherford) Ballinger, in Hamilton and she preceded him in death on February 13, 2010. He retired in 1982 from Fisher Body as a Press Operator with 33 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII in which he received the Bronze Star Medal with one bronze oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart with 3 bronze oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze service star and one silver service star, the WWII Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, Honorable Service Label Button WWII, and the Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar. George will be dearly missed by his children, Jerry D. (Norma C.) Fuller, Faye (Bill) Eckert and Glenn D. (Sharon) Ballinger; son-in-law, Steven Forbes; grandchildren, Sherri Deanne Cohmer, Amanda Ann (Brandon) Broshear, Jessica Lynn Ballinger and Adam Forbes; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Joseph Cohmer, Mackenzie Broshear and Kylie Broshear; brother, Edward Ballinger; and two sisters, Edith Abney and Phyllis Shepherd. George was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Ann Forbes; daughter-in-law, Ernestine Fuller; two brothers and three sisters. The family would like to thank University of Cincinnati Hospital for their special care, Hospice of Hamilton and the many home healthcare givers. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, at 2pm on Monday, August 29, 2011, with Pastor Orville Roach officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Family and friends will be received prior to the service from 12noon to 2pm at the funeral home.
