OBITUARY FOR GERALD L. MC CORMICK

McCORMICK, Gerald L., age 80, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Otterbein Retirement Village where he had resided for 1 ½ years. He was born June 29, 1934 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of Jonas and Lillian (Miller) McCormick. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1952 and attended Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati. He is retired from International Paper (Champion Board and Carton) where he spent over fifty years "accounting and budgeting". Jerry was active in the Miami Indian Trekkers, serving as Trailmaster for many years. He has done volksmarches in all 50 states and in most of the Canadian Provinces. Jerry was also an avid member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. His father sponsored him into the Hamilton Lodge over fifty years ago, and he currently is a member of the Decatur, Indiana Lodge. Jerry enjoyed collecting Elks memorabilia and lived his entire life guided by the tenets of the Elks: charity, justice, brotherly love and fidelity. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pat (Fasnacht) McCormick; four children, Dayna and Paula (and her husband Ray Hargett) of Hamilton, Ohio, Robin of Hampton, Virginia and Michael of Decatur, Georgia. He is also survived by Liberty, his "terrierist" dog. Memorial contributions may be made to Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, 1743 Hamilton-Cleves Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
