Matthew S. Shope, age 25 of Fairfield, passed away at Mercy Hospital on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 12:45 PM. He was born in Cincinnati on June 2, 1990 to Daniel and Cathy (Stacy) Shope. Matthew was employed as a cook at Wendy's for the past three years. On August 21, 2015 in Fairfield he married Whitney Imsicke.

He is survived by his wife, Whitney Shope; father and stepmother, Daniel and Tina Shope; mother and stepfather, Cathy and Kevin Brandenburg; four siblings, Ashley, Allyson, and Austan Shope, and Shana Brandenburg; grandparents, Charles and Carol Parker; in-laws, Richard and Cheryl Imsicke; two special nieces, O'Brianah and Brooklyn; special aunt and uncle, Kim and Ronnie Couch; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Beulah Shope, Ann Bernosky; cousin, Adam Shepherd; and his aunt, Paula Stacy.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Greg Jackson of First Southern Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home
