Melanie Browning, age 91, passed away at The Woodlands of Hamilton on January 19th, 2024. She was born in London, Kentucky on November 7th, 1932. Melanie is now reunited in Heaven with her devoted husband of 71 years, Andrew Browning Jr., who proceeded her in death. Melanie was the daughter of Chad & Myrtle Gilbert, who also preceded her in death. Melanie was the seventh of nineteen children.
Melanie started her journey as a newlywed when she moved from Kentucky to Hamilton to start her biggest adventure yet. She married her sweetheart on October 4th, 1947. It was shortly thereafter that she had two beautiful children, Andrea & Kerry. Her children were her pride & joy. She loved talking about their successes and took every moment to support and guide them. She built strong & enduring friendships over the course of her life. You could count on being served an Apple fritter & a cup of coffee in her bright & cheery home. Rather it be over a Southern cooked meal, or over bible study, she always took time to listen to other’s burdens. As a devoted Christian, helping others was a calling for Melanie. She guided many souls to the Lord during her 91 years with us. Melanie saw the lord’s blessings in everything. She would often go out of her way to make someone feel loved in their time of need. She was known for having the most beautiful garden and paid special attention to care for each and every blossom.
It wasn’t only gardening Melanie was especially good at. She could play cards with her sisters & grandchildren and win almost every time. Her favorite card game was rummy. Many afternoons were spent with her grandchildren teaching them how to play. The room was filled with laughter on those special afternoons. Melanie loved Christmas & decorating for it. Her Christmas trees were always perfectly put together as if an angel had helped her do it. She would give the most thoughtful gifts at Christmas, showing love and dedication to her family. It was always exciting to be opening a gift from her. You just knew it would be the perfect thing you needed. Her greatest joy was blessing others.
Melanie is survived by her daughter, Andrea C. Theiss (Dennis); son, Kerry L. Browning (Martha); grandchildren, Chris Theiss (Susan), Jamie Theiss (Kami), Cory Browning (Letty), Candace Browning; great-grandchildren, Chad, Makenzie (Carl), Gabrielle, Sydney, Andrew. She is also survived by her siblings Gerladine Fields, Aubrey Gilbert, Tony Gilbert, and Bonnie Kieth.
She will be missed, as she would say, big time.
Visitation will be held at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 2565 Princeton Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45011 on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 11:00 am until Funeral services at Noon. Pastor Richard Witt, officiating.
