Paul Johnson

Paul Johnson, age 90, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born in Fayette County, Kentucky on May 17, 1933, to the union of Grover Johnson, Sr. and Ella Sumner Johnson. Paul joined the United States Marines in 1950 and proudly served his country in the Korean War, where he earned and was awarded many medals. He married Bernice Eversole on January 17, 1952, and they celebrated 71 years of marriage this year. Paul was a dedicated Christian and served the church in the various communities where he lived during his life. He worked and retired from AK Steel after accumulating 37 years of service. Paul enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating, was a lifelong UK basketball fan, loved his fur baby “Buff”, and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Grover Johnson, Jr.; sisters Ida Watts and Irene Taylor.

Paul is survived by his wife Bernice; daughters Debbie Farler (Mike) and Bonita Swartz (Lloyd); grandchildren Ellie Frye, Nathan Swartz (Rachel), and Seth Swartz; and four great grandchildren along with a host of other family and friends.
