E. Ray Cheek, age 81, passed away peacefully after a long illness on November 5, 2013. He was born to the late Floyd and Earle Cheek on May 1, 1932 in Laurel County, Kentucky. Ray was married for 60 years to his loving wife Doris. He was preceded in death by his sister Irene Brown. Ray is survived by his son Randy Cheek; daughter Cheryl (Donald) Schuster; grandchildren Eryn Ray Maccoy. Christian (Becca) Schuster, Dana Schuster; great grandchild Elijah Ray Hubbard; and sister Evadene Williams. He leaves behind his dear friend Kenneth Mackenzie and many other friends and relatives. Ray served in the U.S. Army in Europe with the 998th Engineer Construction Battalion and later worked at GE Air Craft Engines as a Machinist for 35 years. He was active in the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for 45 years.
