Rebecca "Becky" DeLong

Rebecca Sue “Becky” DeLong, age 69 of Fairfield, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Becky was born on May 23, 1955 in Muskegon, MI, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Matthews) Zahrt. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Miami University with a bachelor’s in social work, then received her master’s from the University of Cincinnati. Becky married her husband of 42 years, Wayne DeLong, on August 27, 1982 in Muskegon, MI. She was a Social Worker for 23 years and a Court Investigator for 16 of those years with Butler County Probate Court, retiring in December 2023. She was a long-time member of Hamilton Christian Center, and was an Elder and had her Clergy certification. Becky is survived by her husband, Wayne; children, Emily (Brian) Leigh, Barry (Jess) Sodini, Katherine “Katie” (Josh) Mull, and Russell “Rusty” (Megan) DeLong; step-daughter, Andrea (David Mehler) DeLong-Amaya; grandchildren, Jaxson Sodini, Bella MacRae, Riley Leigh, Baxter DeLong, Ean MacRae, Tucker DeLong, Caitlin Leigh, Sawyer DeLong, Oliver Mull, Eliza Mull, and Benton Sodini; and siblings, Kathleen “Kathy” Buter, William “Bill” (Polly) Zahrt, and Thomas “Tom” (Dawn) Zahrt. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Jane Zahrt; and brother-in-law, Doug Buter. A Visitation will be held from 10am until 12 noon on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Hamilton Christian Center, 1940 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, OH 45013. A Service will follow at 12 noon with Pastors Johnny Wade Sloan and Curtus Moak officiating. The service will be broadcast live on Facebook and can be viewed on Wayne DeLong’s Facebook page, and the video will be able to be accessed afterwards.
