Rodger Lee Hoppe

Rodger Lee Hoppe, age 76, of Liberty Township, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 4, 1947 and raised by his loving parents, David W. Hoppe, Sr. and Helen C. Hoppe (nee Lutsch). Rodger served four years in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in February, 1973. He later earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees and became a Human Resources Specialist and Trainer in the railroad industry for over 31 years. Rodger was an enthusiastic umpire for high school, college and other adult baseball leagues for over 40 years. He enjoyed playing games (especially dominoes) with friends and family , and participating in rounds of golf. Other recreational activities included square dancing, being a scout leader with his sons, and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. For the past 13 years, Rodger and his wife were "Snowbirds" and enjoyed their winters in Florida. Rodger was known for his sense of humor, generous nature, and helpful spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael, David, and Mark; sister, Beverly.

Rodger is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Susan; sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) and Brian (Cindi); grandchildren Aaron, Caleb, Sage, and Joshua; cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 2565 Princeton Rd., Hamilton, Ohio 45011 on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 10:00am until time of services, beginning at 11:30 am. Pastor Randy Stearns, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rodger's name may be made to: Hospice of Cincinnati, The American Cancer Society, and Habitat for Humanity, or the charity of your choice.
