Susan was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She carried a deep love for the ocean and the New Jersey seashore thanks to her upbringing. She also loved garage sales, crocheting, collecting bric-a-brac, and sharing her sharp, snarky sense of humor with those around her. The last part of her life was spent in Geneva Ohio by the Lake Erie shore.
Susan faced serious mental illness throughout much of her adult life, but she met those struggles with resilience, humor, and a spirit of adventure. Her favorite saying, “Better than normal,” reflected both her wit and her determination to keep moving forward no matter the circumstances.
She is survived by her sister, Pat Walton; her nieces and nephews, Kelly Walton Rotsma, Nikki Yocum, and Shane Walton; her son, Kirk Harrington; and her beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Jed, and Megan. Her only husband, John Harrington died in 2015.
Susan will be remembered for her humor, her love of the shore, and the unique and giving spirit she brought to the lives of those who knew her.
Services will be held on 6/5/2026 at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 2565 Princeton Rd, Hamilton, Ohio 45011. Public viewing at 11 EST, Service at 12, Military Honors Ceremony at 1.
