Walter Newkirk

Walter Newkirk, 86, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2020 at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born on January 23, 1934 in Clinton Indiana to the late Merle and Margaret (Newman) Newkirk. Walter attended Clinton High School and graduated in 1952. He married the love of his life Shirley Anderson on December 1, 1962 in Hamilton Ohio. Walter was a self-employed barber in Lindenwald for 57 years, before retiring in 2019. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and cooking. Walter was a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather and above all, he held his family to be most important. He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughters; Toni (Dean) Hill, Tammy (Mark) Minnick, Joan (Bill) Vaughn, 6 grandchildren; Jeff (Casey) Vaughn, Adam (Amy) Minnick, Holly (Corey) Robertson, Lindsay (Corey) Dowrey, Alicia Minnick, Lacey Hill, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Bill, Lewis, Larry and Gail Newkirk, sisters; Mildred, Geraldine and Ella Mae. A gathering will be held on March 12th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow.
