Amy will rejoice in reuniting with her dear husband Ray to whom she was married for 60 years prior to his passing in 2019. Daughter of the late Frank and Mary Grandits who she loved dearly, loving mother of Dean (Kathy), Stephen, and Karen (Brad Merritt) (three children under two years old, including twins- how did she ever do it?) and her cherished grandchildren Jorden (Matt), Samantha, Brendan, Eric (Emma), Brady and Olivia, all of her dear lambs. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Shirley Marinelli (predeceased by brother-in-law Dino) and her brother-in-law John Kubay (predeceased by her sister Theresa). Predeceased by sisters/brother/in-laws Frank and Phyllis Grandits, Jim and Anne Allen, and Marie Middlemiss. She will be missed by many loving nephews and nieces.
Amy will be remembered as a loving and adoring mother, grammy, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who selflessly gave of her time for others, always running for those in need (i.e., Sunshine Bakery, Beach Road Kielbasa, Vics Meats, Bi-way, Farmer's Fresh Eggs, etc.). Amy was an avid sports fan and a longtime Ticats supporter. She loved old movies on Turner Classics, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Sixty Minutes while crocheting. She attended all of her children and grandchildren's events as the biggest cheerleader. She was the consummate chef and enjoyed cooking her family's favourite meals such as Meat on a Stick, Nana's White Turnip, Dirt Dinner, Homemade Soup (a daily affair), Prime Rib, Almond Crescents and Gram Younger's Shortbread, Turnovers and Pies as well as her infamous 'dry' turkey. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed annual trips to the Caribbean with dad, regular trips to the casino and long road expeditions looking for the best tomatoes.
Special thanks to the Juravinski Hospital Team for making her final days comfortable. A private service will be held with the family at Cresmount Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Food Bank on Amy's behalf. Online condolences can be made at www.cresmountfennellchapel.com.
