I met Andy at a student placement and took him on my first  solo official "outing" a patient. We went to Gage Park because Andy said he liked parks. On the way, the cracks were bumpy and I was scared the wheelchair was going to fall. Andy did not seem bothered and instead, he was the one reassuring ME that everything would be alright. He was a very unique, kind-hearted person ❤ 

Andy lived every day like a champion. I'm very grateful to have known him through elementary, and junior high before he moved to Ontario after grade 10. Kids were mean to him as they are to most who bring their full selves to school, but Andy never let it bother him. We used to walk home from school together in grade 8 and 9. We would talk about all kinds of things. Andy loved the Simpsons, King of the Hill and joking around to make others laugh. He appreciated each day and made the most of every moment. Andy was also in tune with God as we would see each other in church from time to time. When parting ways after our walk home I would say to him "peace out", he would say it back and would then say "I said it first!!", He would then run home to the family he loved very much. This is a memory I couldn't possibly ever forget. More than anything Andy stayed true to the unique personality god gave him, and that is something that is very rare to find these days. Andy, You will never be forgotten in my book. My sincerest condolences to the family.

I am so sorry to hear of Andy's passing. I met Andy several years ago at the first ever Camp Quality summer event in Thunder Bay. I was a companion for another camper. I remember Andy as always smiling, sometimes cheeky, and eager to participate in any activity. He had a special charisma. I feel honoured to have met him; he definitely made an impression on me. I will keep you in my thoughts.

 Dear Janice, Bill, Hannah and Greer and extended family and friends: please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of the wonderful person and courageous soldier that Andy was during his time here with us.  I have so many very fond and inspirational memories of Andy from the magical inaugural trip across this country in 2008 with his ever present companion, Boston. His comedic and casual style and incredible tenacity was something to behold and he brought some much to the cause as our very capable mascot. He will be missed by many I am sure.  I am unable be at this celebration of his legacy and mourn his loss with all who will attend, but please be assured that my thoughts are with you all at this very difficult time. Andy will always be an shining example of the true triumph of battling cancer while making  a difference by others affected it. RIP Andy. You were a very special person and will never be forgotten.

My sincerest condolences on the loss of your precious son, Andy.  What a remarkable life Andy lived in his short time on earth.     His presence here has been a gift to all who knew him.   May God surround you all with love and compassion.   

When Andy rode across Canada, he met a wonderful young lady named Marissa. She lived in Winnipeg and had come out to cheer the cyclists as they came through Winnipeg from Vancouver to Halifax. When Andy left there, he said that he would take Marissa to his prom. Honestly, we didn't know if Marissa would survive till then, but she did! And so, I worked with an educational tour company, EF Tours, that I used to take our students on tour, and we used my travel points to fly Marissa and her mom to Oakville to go to prom with Andy.  They had a limo and were unanimously voted Prom King and Queen. Marissa was so thrilled. She couldn't believe our school would do this for she and Andy. For us, it wasn't even a question....our hero Andy would have his prom date. Marissa passed away the following March. I keep this picture on my desk as a reminder of how precious life truly is for all of us each and everyday.

Andy was a hero at our school. Because of him and his courage in his cancer journey, we began our partnership with Coast to Coast for Cancer 12 years ago. We now run the Inside Ride indoor cycling event every spring. It is the major fundraiser at White Oaks Secondary School. With so many anxious to participate, we run a morning and afternoon ride. In addition to the actual ride, it has grown to include a BBQ, Raffle, Bake Sale, Krispy Kreme sale, food trucks and more. As of last year's ride, we have raised over $300,000 to support students and their families on their cancer journey.  On our 10 year anniversary, Andy and his family were there when we dedicated the ride to Andy.  This year we will again dedicate our ride to our hero, Andy Brooks. 

Dear Hannah, Kevin and the Brooks Family.  I’m so sorry to hear of Andy’s passing.  Your brother was amazing the way he dealt with life’s obstacles.  He is an example for all of us.  Thoughts and prayers are with you. xoxoxo

Andy Was an amazing man, with a heart of gold. Showed so much compassion and always knew how to make everyone laugh around him. You were a comedian Andy. Sometimes he’d make me facepalm pretty darn hard and he’d joke and say ya I got the humor gene from my parents. In the time I knew Andy, he pushed me to my limits, new boundaries and always said cancer can’t stop us it’s just a bump in the road. Use it as a tool and let it be the thing that pushes you not stops you. Andy had so much amazing wisdom and at such a young age. Had One of the Kindest and most purest hearts I’ve ever known. Janice, Will, Greer, Hannah, my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing such an amazing man to the world. He will never ever be forgotten.  

Although I had never met you Andy, your story has very much inspired me.

Andy and I went to white oaks together. Had a few classes with him.  He was incredibly  funny, caring, so sweet  and truly a great friend.  He made jokes and everyone around him loved him.  He did amazing things and I will always remember walking in the halls with him along with Boston.  My condolences to the family.  He will be dearly missed.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew Andy as the most fearless rider in the National Kids Cancer Ride. While I was the captain of the team, Andy was the heart of the team. Across Canada, Andy rode, coast-to-coast. For himself, for his team, for other kids, adults, and families with cancer. Forever an inspiration.

 Hi this is Colleen the medical director at camp quality northwestern Ontario since it started 19 years ago. I have fond memories of Andy being with us at camp Quality  northwestern Ontario. He was a happy funny young man when I first met him and very much enjoyed getting to know him and enjoyed his company.
 I hope Andy finds peace where he is now with all that he has endured through his young life. 
My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

My sincere condolences to  Bill and the entire Brooks family on this tragic news.  I know through discussions with Bill how hard of a battle Andy fought, for many years.  I remember Bill describing about Andy's preparations  for the Sears bike ride on a stationary bike, and how much perseverence he displayed in accomplishing that ride.  At that time, I remember thinking about his passion, dedication to push through challenges, and the efforts of his family to ride along side with him as he conquered that goal.  Many years later, when I learned of Andy's diagnosis with cancer, my heart ached for Andy, Bill and the family for having to fight another battle with this senseless disease.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.  A young life taken much too soon, may his memory be a light in this time of darkness.
