Anselma Filipovich

It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Anselma, on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the age of 98 years.

Born February 23, 1928 in Czech Republic, she came to Canada from Germany in May of 1953.

It brings us immense joy knowing she is finally reunited with her beloved husband of 73 years, Joseph Filipovich (2020).

Loving mother to Hilda (Stipe) Milos and Ernestine Dryden. Cherished grandmother to Rosemary Milos, Michael (Susan) Milos, Brock Hotrum and Rachelle Savoie. Beloved great-grandmother to Mia Stratton and her fiancé Colin Burchill and Simon Stratton. She will be missed by her nephew Tony (Tina) Filipovic and their children Tommy and Katarina, niece Mary Filipovic and her children Ivan and Tanya as well as by her long time friends Zdenka Sokic and Slovka and Nichola Sokic and their families.

Visitation will be held at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street E., Hamilton, on Sunday, May 24, 2026 from 3-6 pm. Prayers will be offered at 5:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home Chapel, on Monday, May 25, 2026 at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery, Stoney Creek.
