Anthony Hurmal

Born on October 18, 1944, in St. Mary, Jamaica, Anthony lived a full and meaningful life. He was a loving husband to the late Novlet Joy Hurmal, a devoted father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, and a pillar in his community. Anthony is survived by his children , Trevor Hurmal, Gwenette Hurmal, Nadine Hurmal, Leroy Hurmal, and Pauline Hurmal. He is predeceased by his beloved daughter, Cutie Hurmal. He was a proud grandfather to Jurelle Hackett, Michael Hackett, and Nakisha Hackett. Anthony is also survived by his brother Ivan and sister Esmine, along with many other beloved family members and friends who are too numerous to mention but are no less loved and appreciated.

After emigrating from England to Canada in 1970, Anthony worked as a licensed mechanic in Hamilton, Ontario. He spent many years at Concession Garage on Concession Street before purchasing the establishment in 1988. Through his dedication and craftsmanship, Anthony served the Hamilton community for over 40 years, becoming known not only as a skilled mechanic but also as a man of integrity, calmness, and generosity. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Dundurn Place Care Centre in Hamilton, with special appreciation for Deon, a compassionate Healthcare Aide, and the entire 4th floor team, for their exceptional care of our father. We also wish to thank the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their support during his final days. Anthony will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a steady presence in the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Donations in Anthony's memory can be made to Epilepsy Society of Canada.

Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue E. On Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 11am-1pm. Funeral Service to be held in the chapel at 1pm with Burial to follow at Mount Hamilton Cemetery, 260 Rymal Road E.
