Anton Zlatar

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Juravinski Hospital on Sunday, December 21, 2014 in his 90th year. Predeceased by his loving wife Anna (Cvek) (1981). Loving father of Dena Zlatar (Dennis), Anita Zlatar, Michael Zlatar, Ljiljana Claudius (Zeljko) of Zagreb, Croatia. Cherished grandfather of Ryan Hartwick (Stephanie) and Laura Hartwick, Kyle and Dylan Rooney. Great-grandpa of Nolan Hartwick. Dear brother of Anna Pasko (the late Paul), Joseph Zlatar (Velma). Special uncle of Darlene, Diana (Paul), Nada, Tina, Anne-Marie, Katarina (Steve), great-uncle of Selena, Tyler, Matthew and Kate. Tony will be fondly remembered by special friend Madeline. His lifetime achievements include working at CHCH T.V. in Hamilton, to being an LCBO Wine Consultant upon retiring. He was a member of the Royal Conservatory of Music, in Toronto, taught students violin, tamburica and folklore to many groups in Welland, Toronto, Oakville, Guelph and Hamilton. Most importantly his “Folklore Ensemble Croatia” in Mississauga who performed concerts throughout Croatia, Germany, USA, Canada and Puerto Rico. His greatest joy was spending time with dog “Kico” at his cottage in Nanticoke on Lake Erie and calling everyone “Lovie”. Til we meet again….

Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), Hamilton, on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 7:15 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East, Hamilton, on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
