Tony was born September 1923 in Pordenone Italy. As a young man, he fell in love with a beautiful school teacher, Maria; together they shared 72 years of marriage. Tony and Maria dreamed of a new life in Canada. He immigrated in 1954, followed later by Maria and their two young daughters, Angela Tisiot (David) and Sonia Maccan Hart Vilkarsis (deceased 2022).
Tony worked hard in the steel industry and, together with Maria, continued to grow his family with the addition of Louisa Graves (John), Patrice Bard (Gary) and Daniel Maccan (Ruth). He was a loving husband and father, and a beloved Nono to six grandchildren: Lisa (Taka), Katie (Sam), Michael, Natalie (Tyler), Jennifer (Matt) and Angela (Ben), and six great-grandchildren: Giana, Adriana, Arden, Audrey, Eleanor and Baby Gary (deceased 2021).
He is remembered for his love of good wine, Ferrari, soccer, Tim Hortons aka Dean Martin and Maria’s cooking.
A special thank you goes to all the wonderful caregivers at St. Joseph’s Hospital on 7 Surgical & the Palliative Team. They made a tough time kinder for dad and for us, his family. Our sincerest appreciation also for the lovely people (Cookie!) at their retirement home, The Village of Wentworth Heights.
