Assunta Arcari

It is with great sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, nonna and bisnonna Assunta, on January 28, 2026 in her 99th year.

It brings us much comfort knowing after nearly 30 years apart, she is joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Giovanni and more recently, her precious son Carmine.

Loving mother of the late Carmine (Maria), Nicola (Janet), Antonio (Giacomina) , Vittorio (Anna) and Luigino (Antoinette ). Proud nonna of Gianluca ( Mymi) , Peter, Lisa ( late Jason ), Cassandra ( Kyle ) , Kristen ( Eoin ), Melissa (Joshua ) , Assunta ( Nader ) , John ( Jennifer ), Patricia, Stephanie, Mathew, Andrew ( Cayleigh ), Daniel ( Alysha) , Dean ( Natasha ) and 19 great-grandchildren.

She showed her love through food, always cooking and feeding everyone who came by. Her famous pizzelles and taralli were a staple of her home and a symbol of the love she shared with everyone she knew. Her garden was her true passion and joy, tended with the same devotion and patience she gave to her family. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thanks to Dr. Bibic and the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Visitation will be held at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, 63 Highway 20 East, Hamilton, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 600 Spring Gardens Rd, Burlington.
