Came across some photos and wanted to share.  Loretta's Birthday Diner at Teddy's.  Aunty Barbara never miss a Birthday or any special moment for that matter, and when it came to Mom (Loretta), Aunty Barbara made sure to remind my Mom that she was the older cousin (by 1 year) and Barb was the younger one....hahahaha.  she'd get my mom going everytime..lol.

Our sincere condolences to the Family in their loss.  I have many fun memories of playing Basketball with Barb in the Hamilton Ladies League. Especially our road trips to Windsor and Montreal in particular to play in the Masters Ladies Basketball Tournaments. I’ll have those memories to cherish.

Along with Ken Ockenden, we had planned to meet for brunch on Locke Street when the pandemic hit. Kenneth had joined the Emergency Medicine Department of the then Hamilton Civic Hospitals just after I did. Ken was Department Chief for most of our time with the Hospitals. Although Barb was primarily his assistant she also looked after the rest of us in the department. Although most of the work she did for me had more to do with University than administration- related,she gave it equal attention.  When I retired,,I gave her a copy of one of my diplomas. She returned it ( via Ken) a few months ago. She was private about selected things . Perhaps she already knew?     I had written on that diploma:   “Whenever I do anything right, I have come to suspect that you had something to do with it “

Barb was a good friend, a special person and a great lady. She came from a large family whom she adored, but also shared her genetic family with most people she met. She was a mother to all our physicians group. Condolences to her family. Goodbye, Barb. We will miss you.

It was my good fortune to work with Barb for over 25 years. I can honestly say that it was always a pleasure. Unfailingly pleasant and polite she worked constantly to ensure that all the physicians and students were when and where they should be. It was not easy and we sometimes joked that she should have a telephone transplant since she had to use it so much. Her work ethic was unmatched; although she always took time for coffee or lunch with her friends, she never failed to complete her work even if it meant staying late (as it sometimes did). I always knew when it was Canusa, baseball or skiing time since she enjoyed them so much. In later years we looked forward to our annual meeting for coffee and a chat and every Christmas my doorbell rang and there was Barb with a plate of cookies. Many, many of us will truly miss her.

I have been trying to figure out when I first met Barb, at least 40 years ago through Basketball or Canusa or both.  Over the years we spent many hours playing basketball against each other or finally with each other. She was competitive and never afraid to voice her opinions on the referring. ( as were most of us). When the playing days wound down, I would run into Barb around the General and she always had a smile as we stopped to chat.  
I’m stunned to read of her too early passing and offer my sincerest condolences to the family.

Barb and I shared many trips to Ellicotville N.Y., played years of tennis with the Dofasco Tennis Club and played many years as teammates in the Hamilton Ladies Basketball League.  She had lots of energy, loved fun, was stubborn, loved her family.  We lost touch and I had hoped in retirement we would get together!  Unfortunately a lesson learned.  Don't put off what you wish for.  Time is either too short or goes too quickly.  Regret.  Condolences to the family. I am saddened.

Barb had a special place in my Mother Kay Hladun’s life.  She was a great neighbour and would often drop in for a visit.  When Mom moved to a retirement home, Barb would visit at least once a month with candies, flowers or home baking in hand. She will be missed.

Just wanted all of you to know that Barb has a special place in all of the physicians that she worked so closely with.  I can recall so many times when Barb would let me know of an important event in someone’s life that allowed me to connect with that individual.  That was Barb.  She was most interested in peoples lives and that is what made Barb so special.  She will be dearly missed in so many ways.  Our thoughts are with all you during this difficult time.  We know how important her nieces and nephews were to her.  She was so proud of all you and truly blessed to have such a family.  

Dear Mrs  Brandt, Ray, Diane and Greg.  I am very sorry for your loss.  I know Barb was a big part of your lives.  I know she will be missed.  I have fond memories of our times growing up on Craigroyston Rd.  I know she will always be in your hearts and thoughts. 

I am so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. Her mom, siblings, nieces and nephews meant the world to her and I am sure you will miss her very much. 
I met Barb when we worked in the Emergency Dept, she was so knowledgeable, dependable, efficient and organized. A blessing to the Emergency Physicians. I was new to skiing at the time and Barb took me under her wing,  as she did many people,  we spent many weekends driving to Ellicottville to ski and shop the well researched bargains on the way home. Whatever the cost of a ski pass Barb would calculate the number of runs we had to do to get the cost down to .50 per run.....despite the weather.  We did and complained about our knees later. 
One cold stormy night after skiing Barb (dragged) talked me into going to a house party. We had an ongoing joke that if a nice single guy was 6' or taller he was Barbs, under 6' mine.  Thanks to Barb I met my now husband that night (5'10") Barb and I joked about that at the wedding. 
Although she was a very private person she loved to bring people together, socialize and feed a group.  Barb often got into the car at 6 am with fresh baking to share with her many friends on the ski hills. I think of Barb everytime I have a Belgian cookie and none have been as good.  
Barb has left this life much too soon. May time and good memories help heal the pain and sorrow.

My condolences to the Brandt & Zimmerman families. I met Barb at the many Zimmerman/Brandt get-togethers on StoneChurch in the 80's and remember her as  fun-loving, energetic and very dedicated to her family. We are so very sorry about Barbara’s passing. I remember Barb as a childhood friend. Our Mothers were friends and share the same first name - Jennie.  I also remember that anytime I found myself at Hamilton General Hospital, Barbara would always be sure to meet up with us and spend time with my ailing Mother in her hospital room.  Barb was a kind, compassionate and caring person.
Barb’s niece Jess found a friend in our daughter Hillary which will continue the Family connection. We offer our deepest sympathy.

Our deepest sympathy to the Brandt family, Dan & Diane Zimmerman & family, Ian & Andrea.  Barb was a lovely,  kind and generous lady who always took time for others.  When our father was in the General hospital ER , she brought us tea, coffee and cookies while we waited and this small gesture was much appreciated by our family.
