

On Tuesday, December 6th, in his 86th year, and after almost a year of challenging health issues, we said goodbye to our amazing patriarch. Bernie is survived by his loving, supportive wife Helena (Roche), who has been by his side for the last 26 years. He is predeceased by his first wife, Bernice McIntyre, who he held close in his heart throughout the years. Survived by his children Mike (JoAnne), Michele Beisel (Bob), Rick (Marlene), Allan (Lori), Steve, Adele Landry (Glen), and Dan, who will all miss him immensely. He has had a profound impact on all of their lives. Survived also by nine grandchildren who he was always happy to see and hear from; Bryan, Scott, Allie, Andrew, Samantha, Brittney, Devin, Alicia, Becca. Also survived by his brother Robert (Sharon), sister Mary Walsh (Jim) and sister-in-law Anne. Predeceased by his sister Patricia, sister Ann McSorley and husband Bill McSorley, and most recently his brother James. Bernie was extremely blessed to have had close, lifelong relationships with many of his brothers, sisters-in-law and over 60 nieces and nephews in the McIntyre, Roche and Columbus families. in the McIntyre and Roche families. He was especially close with Eileen, Stewart and Anne-Marie, Gerald and Ruth and Lima (McIntyre) and Lorraine and Mary & husband Art (Roche). He missed many of those that went before him, but always remembered and reminisced. The family would like to thank all those who have taken part in the exceptional care of him, especially the doctors and nurses at Hamilton General. To all our family and friends who’ve shown their care and concern for Bernie and Helena, we are forever grateful. His family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with vigil prayers at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Annunciation of Our Lord Catholic Church, 280 Limeridge Rd. W. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with interment following in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations to the Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke would be greatly appreciated.
