Charles "Wallie" Wallace MacDonald

Predeceased by beloved partner of 53 years Robert Hlywka. Wallie was born in Digby Nova Scotia and is predeceased by parents Gordon MacDonald and Lucy MacDonald (nee Von Tassel), 4 sisters and 6 brothers. Deeply loved by his adopted family, nephew Richard Pierias (Myra), great niece Rebecca, great nephew Ronan, nephew Andrew Pierias (Lorelei), as well as best friends Theresa and David Passmore, and family, Ryan, Jodi and Josh.

Wallie moved from Montreal to Hamilton to work in the new Cardiac Department at Hamilton General Hospital, working as a perfusionist for 30 years. All who knew Wallie, knew he was passionate about his home and garden, his antiques and was an amazing cook. His specialties included East Coast favourites, clam chowder, Mulligan stew and raw pier pie as well as masterful desserts like Lemon Pie and Hungarian walnut torte (Robert’s favourite).

Wallie is at “Home” resting peacefully at his “cottage” with his beloved Robert.

A special thank you to the caring nurses and staff at Emmanuel House who Wallie lovingly referred to as his “angels.”

Cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held at a later date.
