

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother and uncle, Charlie Oskroba, in his 78th year, on August 18, 2014. Predeceased by his mother Sofia, father Adam and step mother, Jean (nee Skrok), brothers Walter (Teresa) and Richard (Honey), and infant sister Laurie. Survived by his sister Lenora (Bob) Lewis and brother, Leonard (Marita Zaffiro). Uncle to Michael, Victoria, Daryl, Mark, Toby, Joel, Nicholas, Stefan, Andrew and Theodore Charles. Also survived by several great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and best friends, Gary Kay and Buzz (Steve) Buck and families. Charlie was born in Hamilton, Ontario and lived his early years in New York City. He started his working life at Paling Auto Body and continued on to a career as a sheet metal worker, working on projects in Hamilton, Calgary and Windsor. He was a retired member of the Sheet Metal Workers’ Union, Local 235. Charlie touched the lives of many through his over 50 years of dedication to coaching baseball at Mahoney Park. Family will receive friends at the Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main St. East (east of Sanford Ave.), Hamilton, on Tuesday, August 26 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Wednesday August 27 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held in the Marlatt Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Epilepsy of Halton, Peel, Hamilton or a charity of choice, would be appreciated by the family.
