Shocked & saddened to hear about Chris.  We worked together at Ferring and kept in touch occasionally since, always remembering to give updates about our dogs ♡.  He was a Renaissance man with a big heart and wonderful sense of humour.  My deepest condolences to his family and friends.  RIP Chris. Gone far, far too soon. 

I met Chris and Catherine at the Neighbourhood Leadership Institute Program in 2017 with Sarah Warry.  One of the best and memorable times is when they did their presentation about their son.  I believe the entire class was in tears, how brilliant and so powerful their message is and has become with their son's Erich's Cupboard organization. Both myself and my daughter signed up for SAFETALK.  Sarah and I would go to the usual City Hall delegations and we sometimes would find Chris there, in this photo, waiting for our turn to speak, pretty sure it was the LRT.  In one conversation we talked about how beautiful Canada is, he lent me one of his books, if you get the chance to read Mike Myers Canada, do so, it will remind you of Chris. I would like to also thank you Catherine for your couragous strength, all the work you and Chris have done and I know will continue, he had a heart of gold as well so do you and I am so glad to have met him.  


Chris was an amazing person. The first time I met him I was blown away by his positivity and commitment to the community. I volunteered with him on Hamilton Blue Dot and we became quick friends. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was a hero to everyone in the community and I am very lucky to have met him and work with him. My condolences to his family. I hope his memory will carry you through this difficult time. 

Chris and I sat next to each other at Board Meetings as rookie Trustees for the HWDSB.  He impressed me from the first introduction as a warm,  helpful, larger than life personality.  He shared with me his involvement with the International Children’s Learning Centre and was excited to learn of my own connection there involving a Book I wrote...plus a mutual interest in Diversity and Inclusion.  I gave him a copy of my book which included 5 songs I wrote.  He was eager to read it.  Shortly after he shared his concerns about an Indigenous group of kids that needed funding for a lunch program.  In the short time (5 months) of knowing Chris, I came to see him as someone who would do great things and was looking forward to his contributions.  His sudden passing has left a gaping hole.   I expect we will find a suitable way to honour his legacy at the Board.  #gonetoosoon

I remember Larry telling me how much I'd like Chris, when he was elected as a fellow Trustee.  That was an understatement!  Chris and I shared a passion to make a difference in youth mental health and we had many conversations about how we'd do this.  We also spoke about the importance of Trustees being good role models and Chris epitomized this, he was kind, caring, giving and a good listener.  He challenged the way we did business and our thinking. The Hamilton community has lost a true champion and he will be deeply missed.  My deepest condolences to his friends and family, I promise we will honour his memory.

Chris was a very Special person in our lives, since my son, Robbie was 12 years old. He was the Best Big Brother that a boy could be paired up with through the Big Brother agency. My son always looked forward to spending time with  Chris and attending many events over the years. Their friendship continued for over 25 years and Chris was even Best Man at my son's Wedding as well as Godfather to his son. He was an excellent role model and mentored Robbie through  many difficult times. We are greatly saddened over Chris's passing and will remember him always as the kind and giving man he was to Robbie, as well as our entire family.

I will miss Chris' sense of humour, his mile-wide smile and his sunny disposition. Chris never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He was always ready to help, no matter what was going on. He always stepped up to the plate when someone was in need. Chris was so involved in our community, with fund raising and charitable work. My heart goes out to Catherine, Matthew & Mobi and can't even imagine their loss.

Missed so much already. His big smile and kind caring Heart. Just the weekend before his passing a I put out a call for help to clean Bishops Park on the Stinson Hood , not even his part of the City , but who showed up out of the blue to give me a hand , you guessed it Chris. He was there for anyone who needed a hand or some comforting if they were down, someone you might only meet once in your life. We cleaned the Park , after, went for a Coffee had some laughs. Then the worse happened, Chris passed away , my Heart ached when  I found out and is still aching.Big Hug to Catharine, what a team they were. God Bless


Chris was a constant in our lives during the years we lived in CP. He was always around and ready to help. He is someone impossible to forget and is already missed very much as a friend and as community powerhouse -- his voice will be forever echoing in my mind. His laugh will be forever engraved in my ears.


Chris was everywhere.  You would run into him at the endzone for Tuesday wing night, at vagabond saints; but not for a tattoo, in an alley for spring clean ups, passing beers over his fence to volunteers at the festival of friends, working with the school board, raising awareness for mental health and training the community how to help others with mental health issues.

He has left a legacy that this community will miss considerably.  A mobi sized hole in the middle if crown point. Empty of humour, a big smile, a laugh that was contagious and a heart that everyone who knows him felt with every word he wrote or said.

To say he will be missed is an understatement.


A few years ago I was visiting my Brother Rodney, Chris and I were hanging out for that one day. He says let's order a pizza. When we were picking up the pizza, the pizza place was closed we were left bewildered then saw next to it was the new building. With Chris's sense of humour he says ok! oh your over here, we both laughed. I enjoyed my time with him.  And of course tripping over Moby at the camp! Your going to be greatly missed by me love you Chris! My pal, friend!

Chris was a friend to all, a light in the darkness, and a force that was larger than life. I wish he knew just how much he meant to all the people he touched. I can't even begin to explain what he meant to our family.  Chris, you will be forever missed. 

I had heard of Chris for a while through a Crown Point FB group but hadn't met him until the Spooktacular event in 2017.  It was from that point that I started seeing him everywhere! It was his wry and dry sense of humour and zest for life that drew me to his bigger than life personality. Chris was involved in everything from mental health initiatives, to supporting local food banks, to supporting environmental issues, the list goes on. My favourite memory was the 2018 Spooktacular where he was dressed up as a  Fred Astaire lookalike and the smoke machines set off the fire alarms causing everyone to have to vacate the premises. It became a running joke for months. Because I knew that Chris was very supportive of people suffering from mental health concerns, one time back in January I reached out to him on Messenger because I was feeling really down in the dumps. The winter had been long and I was stressed. Chris responded right away, offered me kind words and positive reinforcement and provided me links to support services in case I needed them.  The conversation ended well and then about 2 weeks later Chris wrote back these words  "Hey, haven't heard from you in a bit. Just checking in".  
Thank you Chris for being there for me.   

I have been honoured for the last three years to have been known as a friend with Chris.  Within a week, I had been pulled into his charismatic gravitational pull and knew this man would be one of my great friends. Chris saw a potential in me to join the ranks of his community champions. He was one of the most selfless people to ever walk the streets of this city. The only way I can thank him for everything he has done for me, my wife, and our business is by dedicating the rest of my life to continue to put my heart into the people of Hamilton the way he did. Chris, thank you for making me strive to keep up with the stride you had. I’m going to miss you forever. 

I first met Chris when he become involved with The Children's International Learning Centre and joined our Board of Directors three years ago.  He worked hard to help promote our organization and increase our profile.   After he became school board trustee, he planned to find ways to bring all ward 3 students to our programmes.

Chris, you are one of my favourite people.  You are kind, compassionate, giving and genuine.  Heaven is celebrating....as we all struggle with this huge loss. 
Picture below...At the last Halloween party, hosted by Chris and Catherine. The fire alarm went off (thanks to the smoke machine)...and it was chilly and rainy...but Chris made that fun too!! 

Nice man, filled with love for the City of Hamilton and it would be fitting for this man with all he did for Charity and for the school board that he should be citizen of the year💯

So grateful to have known and share a dear friendship with this gentle-man.  Chris, you lit up Hamilton with your passion for people and connections.  You are our Blue Dot Warrior, our friend, and our big brother.  Thank you for BE-ing.  One of the last things you wrote to me, on May 23rd in a Facebook Text was, "I'm Greener because of you Ute".....well, it takes one to know one my dear dear friend.  Thank you for emblazoning those beautiful words on my text-page memory space forever.  Wishing you the best of adventures always, on the other side.

I didn't know Chris long but it didn't matter. When you met him it was as if you had known each other forever.  That's how he made you feel. His smile brought everyone into his fold.  I was proud that he called me his old hippy friend.  We are all heartsick at his loss.
