David George Smith

Isaiah 60:1 (NIV)

It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to David G. Smith of Hamilton, Ontario, born June 2, 1949, in his 76th year. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Dave was also a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and so we rejoice in the promise of eternal life.

Dave went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 17, 2025. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 1/2 years, Judith (Judy) Smith; his son Paul, wife Carolyn, and their children, Zachary, Meaghan and Taylor; his son James and daughter Vanessa; and his daughter Ann, husband Cory, and their children, Austin and Lucas. He will also be missed by several cousins in Owen Sound and Orillia, as well as many dear friends. We were very blessed to have Dave with us for so long, as he experienced many challenges with his physical health over the years.

David has now been reunited with his family in heaven including his parents, Arnold and Roberta Smith, his brother, Peter, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

As a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, Dave was a member of Lakemount Worship Centre for 25 years. He volunteered in several areas of ministry for 56 years, and during his retirement, he was a dedicated volunteer at Sew on Fire Ministries in Burlington, a humanitarian aid ministry.

Dave loved to make people laugh, was always ready to say or do something funny, or have a comeback line. No matter the situation, his spirit was always bright, bringing joy into the room.

Dave was a very successful Real Estate Agent, and Broker, at Canada Trust Realtor and Coldwell Banker in both Brantford and Hamilton. He was also an Accounts Manager for Staalduinen Floral in Hamilton.

Friends and family are welcome to join us for visitation on January 30, 2025 at 10 am, followed by a service and Celebration of Life at 11 am -- We have a very odd request for everyone attending on Thursday. Would you please wear a pair of funny socks for Dave? We realize this is a very strange request and they may not go with your outfit, but that is okay. Why? Come to the service and find out why.
