Dorothy, with her first husband, Fred Laird had three children – Carolyn and Doug Brown, Norm and Sarah Laird and Jan and Fred Toy. Then came six grandchildren – Rachel (Andrew), Josh (Danica), Mark (Julia), Bronwyn (Shawn), Amanda (C.J.) and Jacob (Debbie). They introduced to her nine great grandchildren – Leah, Lily, Georgia, Nathan, Maddie, Nolan, Violet, Max and Reid.
When Dorothy married her second husband, Ernie Sanders, she acquired stepchildren – Daniel (Sue), Steven (Dawn), Tim (Gabriella) and Jim (Deb). As time went by, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren followed.
Dorothy was born and raised in Toronto. She graduated, pursued and completed a career in teaching, primarily, in London, Ontario.
Dorothy and Ernie were fortunate enough to winter many years in Florida. However, her favourite place in the world was her family cottage on Fairhaven Island on amazing Lake Muskoka.
For Dorothy, Family always came first. Beyond family, Dorothy had a real passion for dogs of all kinds and clothes shopping. Also, she made the best pies ever!
Her gifts to us and all who knew her include her strength of faith, consideration and care for others, ultimate kindness, unconditional love and respect and she did it all with style and grace.
