

Predeceased by his sister Ruth (Les Luanberg), brother Bill (Sharon), and close in-laws Ethel and Bruce Cowie, Olive and Con Hannah, Bill Skewes, and Herbert Skewes. Survived by sister Marlene, sister-in-law Patricia Skewes, and many nieces and nephews and their families. A lifelong resident of Hamilton, Doug was born to Lloyd and Muriel (McCallum) King on October 9, 1933. He and Marion were married at Livingston United Church on July 16, 1955. Doug was a plasterer by trade and was employed by the Hamilton Board of Education in the Maintenance Department for 26 years, retiring in 1992. Doug built his first home on Seneca Avenue in Hamilton, as well as cottages at Berford Lake and Hope Bay, where many happy summers were spent with the Hannah, Skewes and Cowie families. His many other interests included square dancing with the Steel City Squares, numerous building projects, oil-painting, fishing, woodcarving, and sailing. Doug gave his time generously to his children’s activities and took good care of many family pets. He enjoyed a long, active and healthy life. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wentworth Lodge and family doctor Christina Fugere. Special thanks to niece Leslie (Luanberg) Johnston and her husband Fred Serafino, for their love and thoughtfulness.
Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue E. on Friday, March 14, 2025 starting at 11am with a Memorial Service to follow in the chapel at 12 Noon.
