December 25, 1934 - November 18, 2023
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Edward ‘Ted’ Lowrey on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton Ontario in his 89th year.
Ted will be forever missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Valerie and their children Scott, Mark (Danielle), and Susan (Jason) and his brother John (Kathy). Matthew, Spencer, Andrew, Mary, Thomas, Liam, Ty, Danika and Sawyer will always remember their Grampy with fondness and love. Ted’s family meant the world to him and the feeling was mutual. Waiting to welcome Ted back into their loving arms are his parents Mary and Jack Lowrey. His beloved angel granddaughter Kyra will be happy to finally sit in her Grampy’s lap and get caught up on the chronicles of Curious George and share some chocolate chip cookies.
After his graduation from McMaster University, Ted had a fulfilling career as an educator and principal with HWDSB. It was important to Ted to ensure underprivileged students were nurtured and inspired to achieve their highest potential. When they had no one else to believe in them, Mr. Lowrey was always there to give them a boost.
Ted recently received a Lifetime Service Award from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. He spent the last 25 years sharing his passion for warplanes with anyone who would listen. He was quite the story teller. His legendary tales of all things warbird often graced the cover of Flight Lines magazine and were shared worldwide.
Our family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of those who have cared for Ted in the recent years. A very special thank you to Maisa for her companionship and compassion.
Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home (322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton, 905-387-2111) on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Melrose United Church or Pride Rescue. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be left at www.cresmountfennellchapel.com.
“And now the end is here
And so I face that final curtain
My friend I'll make it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more
I did it, I did it my way”
