Elgin Foster Powless

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Wednesday January 15, 2025, in his 89th year. Dearly beloved husband to the late Penny Powless (née Lewis) for 55 years. Dearly loved father of Lynn Ann, Faith (Al), and Brandy (Hadley). Predeceased by his parents William and Lena Powless, brothers Bill Powless, Levi Johns, Vern Johns, and sisters Leona Longboat (née Powless), Mary Johns, and Kay Johns. Also predeceased by his adoring sons William “Bill” Powless (Dessie), Daniel Powless, and granddaughter Natasha Thompson. Cherished grandfather to Alexis (Boaz), Skye, Wesley (Jocelyn), Cora, Josh, Chantel, Renee, Jordan, and many more grandchildren. Loving great-grandfather to Skyler, Ethan, Hana, Miyoko, and Clementine. Adored dog dad to the late Baby Powless, Tinkerbell, Bella and Levi. Grandfather will be profoundly forever missed and cherished by his devoted granddaughter Aleshia Johnson.

Elgin worked as a steelworker and foreman at Taylor Steel Inc. for thirty years. After his retirement, he delivered medication to the senior community for IDA Langford. Throughout his life, Elgin was actively involved with his church community both at Hess Street Mission and later Harvest Bible Chapel Brantford — he deeply loved the Lord. Elgin will be remembered for his strong work ethic, resilience, faith, kindness, love, sharing family stories, his passion for golf, hockey and the Maple Leafs, and, of course, his vibrant sense of humour.
