HUTTON, Elizabeth Houston Browning (nee Stewart) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Hutton in her 98th year. Born June 28, 1920 in Paisley Scotland. Died December 6, 2017 in Hamilton Ontario. Predeceased by husbands, Pilot Officer John Blair, John Joseph Hutton; infant son Tommy Blair and daughter Elizabeth Hutton. Betty was the very proud mother of David Hutton (Monica) and William Hutton (Beverly). She leaves eight grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her sister Janette Stewart as well as her nieces and nephews in
Hamilton and Lindsay. Betty emigrated to Canada in 1929 with her parents and took up residence in
Hamilton. A graduate of Delta Secondary School, she raised her family on the Beach Strip. She was
the proud Akela of the 25th Cub Pack and acted as District Cub Master for East Hamilton. She was
an avid football fan of the Wildcats and Tiger Cats. She followed her sons across Canada as they played
for the Delta Red Raiders, Burlington Braves, Guelph Gryphons and Stoney Creek Patriots. Later in
life she even learned to appreciate certain CFL referees. Betty's life was never without challenges but she
never complained. She was fiercely independent, determined to live with pride and dignity. She will be
missed beyond measure. For those who have taken an active part in her later years, we are truly grateful.
The family would like to thank her care-givers and all the kind staff at Wentworth Lodge who made these
last three months so wonderful. Visitation will be held at the TRUSCOTT BROWN & DWYER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1309 King Street East (across from Gage Park at Delta) on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the chapel. Interment will take place on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 12 p.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens 1895 Main Street West, Hamilton, Ontario. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
