Beth passed away peacefully on Sunday after a short bout with cancer. Beth is predeceased by the love of her life, Alfred, and leaves behind, with cherished memories, daughters Elaine (Harvey Finkelstein), Kathryn (Wishart Robson) and Beth (Michael Lowes), and grandchildren Zoe, Tori, Curtis, Sam, Michael, Emily and Sara; her sister Pauline Jones, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Beth was born and raised in Hamilton to Sam and Marguerite Gilliland. She was the Niagara Blossom Queen in 1945, and in spite of being courted by many, knew that "the skinny kid" from St Peter’s church choir was her soul mate. Beth and Alf were married in 1951, and spent the next 56 years building their family and later, travelling the world, but always making Eagle Lake their special family place. Beth's love and friendship was a blessing to all that knew her. Her memory will live on in all of us.In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to the Dr Bob Kemp Hospice (277 Stone Church Rd E, Hamilton L9B 1B1). The entire staff at the Hospice made Beth's journey from this life a peaceful and serene one; we cannot thank them enough. A celebration of Beth’s life will be held at the Scottish Rite on Wednesday, February 15th from 3 – 5pm.
