

Peacefully with his loving wife and family on August 14th 2015 at Ridgeview Long Term Care Facility in Stoney Creek, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Alma for 63 years. Loving Dad to Joan Perry (Ivan), David (Gail), Deborah Cameron (Larry). Cherished “Grampie” of Jason, Aaron, John, and Jessica, and “Poppy” to Victoria and Emily. Loving great-grandfather to Katie, Cohen, Chloe, Evan, Paige and one expected.
Everett will forever live on in the hearts of his brother Harold, sister Elsie Callaghan, brothers and sisters in law; Glo and Stan Botts, Eileen and Ed Horeczy, Mary and Don Denman, Shirley and Allan Handrahan, Kenneth and Dianne Cheverie, and many other family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Willard and Elizabeth Mitchell and in laws Adolphus and Winnifred Cheverie, sisters; Pearl Kelly (Henry), Lizzie Murphy (Clarence), sisters and brothers in law; Dot and David Jay, Frank and Helen Cheverie, Myles Cheverie, Muriel Cheverie. Everett was a veteran serving with the P.P.C.L.I. Battalion. He was a long time baseball coach at Mahoney Park and a hockey coach at Parkdale, as well as a dedicated employee of Stelco and supporter of Local 1005 for more than 30 years. Special thanks to Pat, Don and Ray who faithfully visited and to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Ridgeview. Visitation will be held at the Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Tuesday, August 18, from 6-9pm, where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 10am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at 1:15pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
