It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother in her 97th year. Giancarla is now reunited with her beloved husband Giacomo Angelini (2000) and her parents Efisio and Emma.
A loving and devoted mother to Mark, Carlo and his wife Michelle, Rosy and her husband Sam. Adored Nonna to Joseph, David (Julie), Michael (Mckenzie), Melissa (Mike), Christian (Emma), Sabrina and Maximus. Cherished Bisnonna to Lucas, Hudson and Mason. Beloved sister-in-law to Letizia, and much-loved Zia to Lia, Laura (Giorgio), Luciana (Francesco), Paulo (Lorena), Maurizio, Tiziana (Luigi) and Piero. Predeceased by brother Renzo, sister Elda, brothers-in-law Ciso and Ferruccio, and sisters-in-law Gina and Anna.
Mom was a woman of courage. She was born in Suzzara, Mantova. When her family moved to Bolzano Italy, mom fell in love with the boy in the apartment upstairs. In 1949 she and dad wed and were soon blessed with two handsome boys. In 1956, with toddlers in tow, mom bravely left her family and the country she loved, and boarded the ship - Cristoforo Columbo to reunite with her “Jakey”, who had immigrated to Canada in pursuit of a better life for his family. Her destination was Hamilton Ontario, where they reunited, settled and were blessed with a baby daughter. There were many years of challenges and sacrifices, but mom was resilient: she mastered the English language, teaching herself to read and write; ensured her children received a good education and built a solid foundation for their professional careers. She developed a network of beautiful friendships that lasted her lifetime. A number of special friends became our Canadian family: the Manzoni’s, Rossi’s, DiIanni’s, Gasparin’s, Tirimacco’s, Austin’s and other neighbours in the Rosedale community.
Through millions of examples, our family Matriarch taught us the importance of family and the power of unconditional love. She loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing cook whose recipes could never be replicated, the reason being, that Nonna always added a little bit more love. Our Queen Mother loved to laugh and, when given the platform, was the best story-teller in the world, generously sharing experiences and wisdom she had collected throughout her 96 years. Her signature smile and laugh brought joy to anyone she came into contact with. She was not just 'Nonna' to her grandchildren, she was everybody's Nonna.
A woman of faith, mom has been called to our Fathers house. She is in peace now and it is her time to rest. We are forever grateful for the love and wonderful memories our beautiful Mamma, Nonna and Bisnonna has given us. We are all immensely grateful for the beautiful blessing of Giancarla. We could not have asked for a more loyal and devoted Mother, Nonna, Bisnonna and friend. She will live forever in our hearts and minds. May she rest in eternal peace.
An abundance of thanks to the many front-line workers who looked after mom in her final days. Your work is incredibly important and so very much appreciated. If desired, donations to a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated.
