It is with great sadness that we share the passing of the ‘flower’ of our family, Gilda Toscani who joined her beloved Giuseppe Toscani in peace and harmony on November 10, 2014 in her 88th year. Dearly loved by her children Rosa and Emidio Sciarra, Dino and Giannina (Sgreccia), Domenic and Franca (Salvi), Elda and Victor DiCroce, and Gino and Bruna (Salvi). Cherished by many beautiful grandchildren and adorable great-grandchildren.Predeceased by her parents Domenico Antonio and Pierina Di Gennaro, sisters and brothers in law Carolina and Quinto Di Fillipo and Onorina and Giuseppe Di Pangrazio. Brothers and sisters in law, Vincenzo and Anna Toscani, Domenica and Pasqualino Rosito, Carino and Rosato Toscani. Survived by sister-in-laws Naldina Toscani of Hamilton and Domenica Toscani of Italy. Also numerous nieces and nephews both here in Canada and Italy. Gilda was a loving and caring angel to whomever she touched especially her ‘famiglia’. The most important things in life centered on her beloved Giuseppe and her children. Her existence was to protect, love and nurture all her family from birth to now adulthood. Gilda cherished the days spent with family, friends and neighbours on every occasion whether in the early days on Huxley Avenue or later on with her co-patients at Clarion. Gilda’s life was not an easy one beginning in the hills of Valle Castellana tending the fields while raising her family and finally immigrating to Canada in 1971 in order to provide a better life for all. At this time, we would like to thank Dr. Profetto and the Clarion Nursing Home staff for their constant care of our dear mother. Especially Anna Alaimo, our mother’s special angel who looked over her at all times with love and patience of a daughter. Anna, we couldn’t have done this without you! Visitation at the MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Wednesday November 12 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm with Vigil Prayers at 3:30pm. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 128 Edgemont Street South, on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 10am. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
