It is with heavy hearts Sue (Bob Yuile), Janet (Ray O’Connor) and Nancy (Larry Seaman) announce the passing of our mother Gladys Lillian Reid on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.
Predeceased by the love of her life, our father, Ken Reid (1993), her mother Frances Ayres, (1995) and brother Jack Ayres of Halifax (2012). She leaves sister Barbara (Orest Kowch) and Donna (the late Chuck Ricker) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom had four favourite grandsons, Rob Yuile (Michelle), Kevin Yuile (Maria), James O’Connor (Jessica Armstrong) and Mathew O’Connor. She was also blessed with two beautiful great granddaughters Mackenzie and Sophia Yuile.
For many years, Mom was a volunteer for the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board in schools with special educational needs. In 1974 she became a Teacher’s Assistant in the Junior Kindergarten program for over twenty-five years at King George School, Dr.J.E. Davey School and Eastmount Park. Mom was also very active at St. Michael’s Anglican Church with the Women and Girls Auxiliary and in more recent years, the Altar Guild.
We are extremely grateful to Dr. Amanda Ramdyal, Dr. Matthew Cooke, and Nurse Practitioner Anne Barber of the Stonechurch Family Practice. This gratitude extends to the staff at the Village of Wentworth Heights. Moms last nine weeks were at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice and we were overwhelmed by the exceptional staff for their compassion, kindness and support. Our loving thanks to each of you who took care of our mom.
There will be a family service at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, 1188 Fennell Avenue East at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018, with extended invitation to mom’s friends from St Michael’s congregation and the Village of Wentworth Heights.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
