

Helen was born to Balzar and Clementine Sander in Scott, Saskatchewan. She was the sixth child of nine. Predeceased by her parents and her husband of 52 years, Vernon, siblings Joe, John, Kay, Regina, Mary, and Teresa (Dolly). Helen is survived by her sister Eva and her brother Tony and children, Blaine (Lenora), Glenn (Nancy), and Jaelynne (Brian). She is further survived by her grandchildren, Tanya, Jessica, Jordan, Hudson, Morgan, Parker, Trevor, Shannon, Eric, and Maddison, great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Josephine, Norah, Lucas, and Milo as well as many nieces, nephews and many friends.
Helen worked at Appleford paper, Westburn, Office Overload and Butler manufacturing in Burlington. Furthermore, she was a long-standing member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, and a member of the Catholic Women's League (CWL) for over 65 years. She was an avid sports fan who loved her Toronto Maple Leafs & Blue Jays. Helen was an 18 year resident of St. Elizabeth Village and enjoyed her friends and time there. Her active life of walking, playing cards, and line dancing made her many friends along the way. Thank-you also to the staff at Wentworth Heights for their compassionate care and support while she was in residence. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Sienna, 620 Rymal Road E. Hamilton, on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 11am with cremation to follow. Inurnment to take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel.
