

1917 - 2011 Peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital in her 94th year, on January 10, 2011. The beloved wife of Peter Thomson, having recently celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary. Born in Scotland, one of six children of Samuel Murray Brown and Elizabeth Russell Brown. Helen came to Hamilton, Canada in her early 20's where she lived with her oldest sister and family. Her niece, Betty Noble and she, grew up like sisters. They often performed together as Highland dancers under the name The McGregor Sisters. In Hamilton, she met husband Peter who was serving with the Royal Air Force at Mount Hope. They were married in 1946 in Burnbank, Scotland and returned to Canada in 1947. She was loved and will be missed by many nieces, nephews and their families in Scotland and by nephew Brian (Ruth) Thomson of Mitchell, Ontario and by niece Gail (Stan) Kuwabara of Turks and Caicos. Dearly loved "Auntie Ella" will be sorely missed by great-niece Allisan Noble and her daughter Elizabeth (Jamie) Zomer, all of Hamilton. Also of Hamilton, great-nephew Roderick Noble and of Cambridge, ON, great-nephew Peter (Barbara) Beacham and family and great-nephew James (Jane) Halley and family of Brantford. In accordance with Helen's wishes, she has been cremated and will be interred in Cumbus Nethan, Scotland. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 20 at 1 p.m. at the Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main Street East (East of Sanford). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or the S.P.C.A. would be appreciated by the family.
