Irene Mary Francaise Buffam

She passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Sunday December 17th, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving wife and best friend to the late Ron Buffam for 58 years. Dearly loved mother to Darlene and Kim (Gabe). Loved Nanny to Anthony, Cody (Annie), Jordan, Taylor (Will), Katie and Connor (Erica). Beloved sister to Shirley (Marc) and Linda (Greg). Loving sister-in-law to Nancy (Larry predeceased) and Jim (Opal). Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Theresa and Kenneth Mitchell. Will be sadly missed by many special friends and neighbours. Irene's second great love was her garden, for which she received 20 white trillium awards and 6 pink trillium awards. Irene was a dedicated and caring school bus driver for over 40 years. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at Juravinski Cancer Centre and the palliative care teams. Also to all the VON nurses for their personal care and compassion.

Visitation will take place at Cresmount Funeral home, 322 Fennell Ave East, Hamilton, Ontario on Wednesday December 20th from 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. Private funeral will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday December 21st for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Cancer Assistance Program (CAPS).
