Peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on May 13, 2015 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn. Loving father of Glen and Lisa Witts (Chris). Cherished grandpa of Bo, Maddy, Summer and Jake. Special uncle of Diane and Steven. He will be fondly remembered by Leslea, Merlene, his neighbours, and longtime friend Mike Maradin. John was a retired employee of Dofasco with 40 years of dedicated service. Special thanks to the nurses of the Hamilton General Hospital as well as the doctors, nurses and staff of 3rd floor Palliative at St. Peter’s Hospital for their exceptional care. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. where the Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke or Kidney Foundations in memory of John.
