At St. Peter's Hospital, with her family support, Jean is now at rest after an eight year struggle with Alzheimer's. Born Mary Jane (Jean) Wilson to Robert Victor and Margaret (McLaughlin) Wilson in Monessen, Pennsylvania. She emigrated with her parents and brother Bill to Hamilton in 1940. Jean was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great grandma and aunt. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Ron; her three children Bill (Nancy) of Hamilton, Rob (Sandie) of London and Peggi (Michael) Goreski of Oakville; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer, James, Ian (Honorata), Dave (Tara), Larissa (Derek), Connor (Anne), Helen, Marion (Katherine) and 8 great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Norma Harris (the late Jack), Hazell Shaw (the late Harry) and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Bill Wilson, sisters-in-law Flora (Terry) Underdown and Mae (Art) Bennett and nephew Martin Harris. Jean was a retiree from the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board and spent most of her teaching career at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. Jean was an avid gardener and in retirement enjoyed tracing her Irish family history and travelling with Ron. Special thanks to the staff of St. Peter's Hospital and Macassa Lodge for their care and support. Visitation will be held at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, Alzheimer's Society of Hamilton/Halton or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
